Duplex Bearings are matched bearings that provide accurate alignment in radial and axial directions. These bearings are designed to eliminate vibration and offer a higher load capacity, leading to longer life and increased system reliability. Duplex bearings are matched by loading every single bearing with the desired preload, measuring the axial offset, and grinding the relevant ring face. When assembled as a set, these bearings create a precise sub-assembly with a known preload, offering increased load capacity, a stiffer assembly, and optimised life.

SPECIAL BEARINGS FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES

Typically, our radial deep-groove ball bearings are paired with a preload of 5 Newtons and a nominal contact angle of 15° (E). We can adjust the preload and contact angle to meet your specific requirements. We generally recommend higher radial clearance for duplex bearings, as this enhances axial load capacity, rigidity, and the contact angle.

For spindle ball bearings, we offer variants with contact angles of either 15° (C) or 25° (E). Our duplex bearings are available in three preload stages:

KEY CONSIDERATIONS FOR HANDLING DUPLEX BEARINGS

We advise against increasing preload beyond the necessary level, as this can raise frictional torque and reduce bearing life. We classify duplex bearings into two groups based on their bore type and outer diameter. The matched pairs are then packaged and marked with the same code to ensure compatibility. During installation, it’s important to select your shafts and housings carefully. Exceeding the maximum fit interference on the inner or outer ring can alter the preload. Specific instructions are provided on the packaging stickers and bearing labels.

High pressure pure air generators

Challenge:

High pressure pure air generators are designed to replace rechargeable gas bottles on modern military aircraft. The system draws in atmospheric air to provide a continuous supply of high-pressure pure air, which results in unlimited mission duration and eliminates the logistics burden associated with gas bottles.

Challenge:

5-axis measurement represents the biggest step-change in measurement capability ever introduced, delivering unprecedented speed and measurement flexibility, whilst avoiding the speed versus accuracy compromises inherent in conventional techniques.

Solution:

Duty of CMMs is generally low hence there is intermittent operation of bearings. Machines do require high reliability so products are tested and developed continuously, meaning technical support from bearing OEMs is critical. Some bearings are supplied with specific profiled outer ring designs.

Challenge:

Peristaltic pumps use occlusion rollers and positive displacement to feed fluid in industrial and medical applications, regulating flow and eliminating the need for valves. Bearings fitted in occlusion rollers have a cycle of coming on and off load with the potential to skip.

Solution:

It is important to select a bearing with high quality machining of its raceways to allow the bearing to readily accept these changes in state.
